This tenacious Occitanian legend has always fascinated me, I was inspired by it to create a kind of 'concept album' based on mysterious events still unresolved to this day ...
The "Beast of Gévaudan" would be an animal at the origin of a series of attacks in France which began in the former country of "Gévaudan" against villagers (often women and children) between June 30, 1764 and June 19, 1767.
All this gave rise to various rumors about the nature of this "beast": a wolf, an exotic animal, or a werewolf !?
The fear of this apparently invincible "Malbête" and the too many victims, incited the King (Louis XV) to mobilize royal troops ("The Dragons") to track and kill it. Was it a "divine punishment" as the Church wanted to lead it to believe, an animal trained to kill or even an unknown species to this day thirsty for blood? The mystery still remains ...

(French) : Cette légende tenace d'Occitanie m'a toujours fasciné, je m'en suis inspiré pour créer une sorte de 'concept album'... basé sur des mystérieux événements encore irrésolus à ce jour...
La "Bête du Gévaudan" serait un animal à l'origine d'une série d'attaques en France qui ont débuté dans l'ancien pays du Gévaudan contre des villageois (souvent des femmes et des enfants) entre le 30 juin 1764 et le 19 juin 1767.
Tout ceci donna naissance à diverses rumeurs sur la nature de cette « bête » : un loup, un animal exotique ou un loup-garou !? La peur de cette « Malbête» apparemment invincible et les trop nombreuses victimes, incita le Roi (Louis XV) à mobiliser des troupes royales ("Les Dragons") pour la traquer et la tuer. Etait-ce un "châtiment divin" comme voulait le laisser croire l'Eglise, un animal dressé pour tuer ou encore une espèce inconnue à ce jour assoiffée de sang ? Le mystère reste encore entier..
