Inspired by the book “Flora of Middle-Earth”

by Walter S. Judd & Graham A. Judd.

Tolkien’s meticulous descriptions of Arda’s plants play a major role in the creation of an organic and vivid stage on which the tales we love can grow. In his writings, the professor provides us with various landscapes all rich with life. Mind-wandering in Middle-Earth is not a hard thing to do. You can get lost in deep caves, swim in picturesque rivers, but it is without doubt in the forests that we can find where Tolkien’s heart lies.

Most of all, it’s in woodland realms that the professor’s writings transport us into rêveries - it’s in these strange, old and thick green places that Luthien dances before Beren, that Lady Galadriel stops the seasons. Forests are territories where Hobbits grow taller, where magicians are met and where strange and ancient creatures dwell.

The significance of plants - of fields and forests can be seen in the numerous connections they share with key characters of Tolkien’s legendarium. This third part of a greener than green collection of music pays tribute to the world surrounding the people of Middle-Earth and beyond.
