The Piper is dreaming... and as is often the case with dreams, it is varied, sometimes harmonic, at other times not so harmonic, even bordering on chaotic. But in the end, 'tis only a dream. When morning comes, it slowly fades away.

This album is written in the seven modes used in modern Western music, using the natural notes. Each song is written in a different mode starting with Dorian in D moving through the natrual notes to Ionian in C (see info for each track). This was done in an attempt to make the music sound a bit more medieval. Very few instruments are used on the album, mainly a recorder (the Piper's instrument), a vintage synth's strings, orchestral percussion, a sampled Jew's harp, the AlterEgo voice synthesis engine and, for ambience, the Baltic Shimmers instrument.
