Launcelot - the paragon of youthful innocence, of knightly excellence, of amorous consequence. Raised in secret by a woman of great power, Launcelot would find his skill at sword and joust, and put them into play in the service of Arthur.
The tales of his heroism are legion, and still his devotion to his queen was one of his most admired qualities - until that devotion became something more. Longing. Lust. Until it was reciprocated. The knight of the cart risked his honor many times in order to save Guinevere. and from that a connection grew into a betrayal that rocked the kingdom. Launcelot wandered the wild, disgraced, mad, haggard. Whether he reconciled with his king and queen before their deaths is the source of some question. But it is a source of comfort to imagine the aging knight casting aside his vows of hermitage, to take up his sword for the kingdom one last time.
