*SUNDOWN AT TUMBA RIDGE* IS A FICTIONAL MOVIE CREATED TO GIVE SOME CONTEXT TO THE MUSIC AND CAPTURE THE SPIRIT OF THE ERA IN WHICH THESE TYPES OF FILMS WERE ORIGINALLY MADE. THIS IS THE SURROUNDING STORY: I RECENTLY HAD THE INCREDIBLE FORTUNE OF BEING CHOSEN TO RESTORE THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK TO A LOST SPAGHETTI WESTERN FILM FROM 1969. NOT MUCH IS KNOWN ABOUT THE MOVIE, IN FACT THE FILM ITSELF IS NOT FULLY INTACT. WHAT WE DO KNOW INVOLVES

This is a slight departure for Psyclopean, but still originates from the influence of dungeon synth and dark ambient. We hope you enjoy this unique musical... experience.
The music style of this album (and several other Psyclopean albums) is an off-shoot subgenre known as We-Fi, or Weird Fidelity, primarily pulled from the aesthetic of weird fiction authors like Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Algernon Blackwood, and others, mixed with the psychedelic sounds found within late 60's and 70's prog rock and Berlin School-type vibes. The style attempts to capture a surreal lo-fi dark ambient musical narrative laden with the nostalgic tones of dungeon synth, retro documentaries, and the hazy textures of a half remembered dream of pot smoke-filled basements covered in black light posters of dragons and wizards.
